The American Quarter Horse Association is pleased to announce Take Me Riding, an all-breeds “edu-tainment experience” for children ages 5 to 9, won the Outstanding Achievement Award in Education from the Interactive Media Awards.

The Interactive Media Awards competition is open to individuals and organizations involved in designing, developing, managing, supporting and promoting websites. Created by the Interactive Media Council, a nonprofit organization of leading web designers, developers, programmers, advertisers and other web-related professionals, the competition is designed to elevate the standards of excellence on the Internet and offer winners a boost in marketing and exposure. The project was submitted by Bean Creative, who was hired by AQHA to develop Take Me Riding.

Take Me Riding came to life from a comprehensive research project led by AQHA and an advisory board of industry leaders from the American Youth Horse Council, Certified Horsemanship Association, Cooperative Extension Equine Specialists, The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. and Wagonhound Land & Livestock Co. This team assisted in determining where the deficiencies existed in membership and participation, how to engage with a younger audience and what new products should be considered to maximize the engagement potential.

“Take Me Riding is a revolutionary effort to introduce youth to the wonderful world of horses,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines. “We are looking forward to watching Take Me Riding continue to grow its audience of horse-crazy kids.”

For Take Me Riding, Bean Creative developed the perfect combination of learning and fun with a massive mixture of mini games, deeper interactive, digital comic books and an action-packed web-i-sode series starring real kids’ adventures with horses – everything from a first horseback ride to competing in a show. One of the most important facets of the project is to portray the real world of horses. Once kids are ready to get on horseback, there’s a Horse Finder tool to connect parents to stables, trainers, ride centers, and events near them.
